| Wind & Hail Damage
The pictures below are a sample of general damage that may occur due to a hail or wind storm.
|
- If your roof is damaged by hail it is likely that it will need replacement. Often roofs with wind damage are repairable depending on age, condition and availability of materials. If you suspect your home has hail or wind damage please call us for a free roof inspection.
- If you have roof damage you should call your insurance company to file a claim. There is generally no cost to file a claim. If you are awarded a claim, your insurance deductible ($250-$1000 typically) will be deducted from the check the insurance company gives to you.
- It is best to have as few people on the roof as possible, as walking on the roof can cause damage.
- Every year during hail season we see many roofs that are intentionally damaged (it's very obvious). Please note, insurance companies will not pay for intentional damage.
- Insurance companies pay to have roof repairs done, they have the right to inspect the roof to make sure the work has been done and completed to their satisfaction.
- Insurance companies are communicating more often with each other in regards to previous claims to make sure work has been completed. Make sure to have all work completed as per your insurance claim to ensure you don't have future problems when changing insurance companies or selling your home.
- Beware of roofers who come knocking on your door. There are many "Storm chasers" in the roofing business that are here today and gone tomorrow. These contractors go where the storms are and work until there is no work left. Once the work is gone so are they, which means the warranty is worthless. Most are unlicensed and many are uninsured which can create major liability issues for the homeowner.
